Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), as with most therapy approaches, focuses on the individual’s present concerns. The EMDR approach believes past emotionally-charged experiences are overly influencing your present emotions, sensations, and thoughts about yourself. As an example: “Do you ever feel worthless although you know you are a worthwhile person?” EMDR processing helps you break through the emotional blocks that are keeping you from living an adaptive, emotionally healthy life. EMDR uses rapid sets of eye movements to help you update disturbing experiences, much like what occurs when we sleep. During sleep, we alternate between regular sleep and REM (rapid eye movement). This sleep pattern helps you process things that are troubling you. EMDR replicates this sleep pattern by alternating between sets of eye movements and brief reports about what you are noticing. This alternating process helps you update your memories to a healthier present perspective.

Internal Family Systems
IFS is a Transformative psychotherapy… and an empowering paradigm.
"IFS is a transformative tool that conceives of every human being as a system of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core Self. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal.
IFS is frequently used as an evidence-based psychotherapy, helping people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. IFS creates inner and outer connectedness by helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts.
But IFS is much more than a non-pathologizing evidence-based psychotherapy to be used in a clinical setting. It is also a way of understanding personal and intimate relationships and stepping into life with the 8 Cs: confidence, calm, compassion, courage, creativity, clarity, curiosity, and connectedness. Professionals from many different backgrounds such as, but not limited to, body workers, legal mediation, school administration, life coaches, and religious leaders may utilize IFS to inform and guide their work. Our growing list of educational programs aims to serve not only therapists but the wider public and other professions.
The mission of IFS Institute is to bring more Self leadership to the world."

M-CBT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive-Behavioral)
M-CBT, or Mindfulness-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, combines traditional CBT principles with mindfulness practices. It emphasizes the awareness of the interconnectedness between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By practicing mindfulness, individuals can recognize and challenge negative automatic thoughts, cognitive distortions, and unhelpful narratives. This awareness allows them to make more intentional and aligned choices, fostering better mental health and well-being.

Somatic Healing Techniques
Somatic Healing Techniques, often referred to as body psychotherapy, emphasize the interconnectedness of the body and mind. These techniques involve increasing awareness of physical sensations and physiological responses to triggers with the understanding that traumatic experiences can become stored at a cellular level. By paying attention to physical sensations, such as tension or pain, and understanding their connection to emotional states, individuals can process and release stored traumas. This holistic approach helps in integrating body awareness with mental healing, leading to a more profound and comprehensive recovery of both mind and body.

Sound Healing
Sound Healing involves the use of particular sounds, frequencies, and vibrations to improve a person's overall mental health and well-being. Practitioners typically use instruments such as chimes, gongs, and singing bowls to foster relaxation, relieve stress, and ease pain. This therapeutic method is based on the science of sound energy, where certain frequencies are thought to have healing properties that benefit both the brain and the body.
Sound healing may be utilized in a group or individual setting.
Sound healing uses sound vibrations to create neural, physiological, and biochemical reactions in the body to promote relaxation and healing. Some scientific principles that may explain how sound healing works include:
-
Entrainment
Synchronizing a faster rhythm to a slower rhythm, such as repeating certain rhythms to slow breathing and heart rate. This can help realign the body's natural rhythms, which can become irregular when someone is stressed or unwell. Entrainment can promote relaxation, sleep, and focus.
-
Brain waves
Sound therapy can alter brain waves, changing agitated patterns to calmer wave forms. This can help the brain move into less active states, such as Alpha and Theta, without much effort. As brain waves slow down, the body shifts from an active state to a more relaxed, dreamlike state, where breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure decrease.
-
Resonance
Sound healing can re-harmonize cells that have been imprinted with disruptive frequencies, which may be the result of toxic substances, emotional traumas, pathogens, or long-term exposure to noise pollution.
-
Cymatics
Instruments tuned to different body parts, chakras, and emotions can remind cells of their correct frequency, causing them to move back into their correct vibrational speed.

Sandplay Therapy
Sandplay therapy is a creative, depth-oriented, and nonverbal approach used as an adjunct to talk therapy for clients of all ages. Developed within the Jungian tradition by Dora Kalff and influenced by Carl Jung’s understanding of the unconscious, Sandplay allows individuals to express and explore inner experiences through the creation of symbolic scenes in a tray of sand using miniature figures and objects. The process provides a “free and protected space” in which the psyche’s natural tendency to metabolize, integrate, self-heal, balance and individuate unfolds organically. Through symbolic play and imagery, clients access unconscious material that may not be reachable through words alone, fostering deeper connections, resiliency, emotional release, and insight.
For children, Sandplay supports emotional expression, trauma resolution, and healthy development through play. Adolescents use it to explore identity and self-understanding, while adults and older clients often engage with deeper layers of the psyche to process grief, trauma, and life transitions. Across the lifespan, Sandplay complements verbal therapy by offering a powerful pathway for self-discovery, healing, and the integration of mind, body, and spirit.
